The drive to Wahiba Sands
Wahiba Sands is the desert east of Muscat. The road from the city toward the desert is paved, so the first part of the day is an ordinary highway drive.
Use a 4x4 once you leave that road and drive on the sand. A trip that starts in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is booked on the UAE page. A normal rental that starts in Muscat stays in Oman.
